The Russian Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery is one of the oldest journals in the industry founded in 1959. The journal covers current theoretical and organizational issues of thoracic surgery and related specialties. The reseaches on etiology, pathogenesis, clinics, diagnostics and surgical treatment of the diseases of heart and blood vessels, lungs, mediastinum, interactive pathology, as well as works on organ transplantation are published here. Among the regular contributors there are any prominent scientists, clinicians, health care organizers representing the different specialties cardiovascular surgeons, cardiologists, angiologists, anesthesiologists, intensivists, functional diagnosticians, polyclinic physicians, rehabilitologists.

The main rubrics: lectures, reviews, original articles, brief reports reflect the entire scope of the journal. In addition, such headings as methods, history of surgery, cardiac surgery in federal districts and others have made the journal popular among a variety of professionals.

The journal is included in the list of Russian peer-reviewed scientific publications, recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission for publication of basic results of dissertations for candidate and doctor of medical sciences degrees.
